Scope and content: This leather-bound album contains photographs of the stage and stage machinery, production workshops and backstage areas of the Royal Opera House. A number of them document the remodelling of the stage in 1900-1901, work supervised by Sachs. His handwritten inscription inside the album reads: 'With the compliments of the Season (a souvenir of the remodelling of the stage) from Edwin O. Sachs, Xmas 1901'. A small metal label on the album cover reads: 'Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, 1900-1901'. Some prints are duplicated in the file of loose sepia prints (ROH/SAC/2). The photographer was Alfred Ellis of Baker Street, London.
