Costume for Violetta in La traviata (Verdi)

Italian director and film-maker Luchino Visconti directed the 1967 production of Verdi’s La traviata for the Covent Garden Opera Company, and set it in the late 19th century. The designer Vera Marzot provided Mirella Freni as Violetta with a selection of elegant dresses, based on the black and white drawings of Aubrey Beardsley.
