Lady de Grey and Antonio Scotti in the gardens at Coombe Court
Italian baritone Antonio Scotti made his debut at the Royal Opera House in 1899 and appeared regularly until 1914. Scotti is shown here with Lady de Grey in the gardens at Coombe Court, her residence in Kingston, Surrey, where she entertained many singers, conductors and composers as her guests. Her lavish house parties were legendary and invitations keenly sought. This photograph was taken sometime after 1900.
