Constant Lambert’s score for Tiresias

Constant Lambert was Founder Music Director of the Vic-Wells (now The Royal) Ballet and arranged and composed many scores for the young ballet company. Many of his autograph scores are in the Royal Ballet and Opera Collections, including his full score for Tiresias.  This was the last work that he composed for the Company, and was commissioned by Founder Choreographer Frederick Ashton in 1951. This detail from a page from the full score includes a note about Margot Fonteyn's Act II scene 1 solo: 'Keep it moving! (as though it wasn't moving enough already!)'.
