Clarification of premiere: The version of 'Quartet' that premiered on 2 March 1982 consisted of a pas de deux entitled 'Verdi Variations', which MacMillan choreographed early in 1982 for Peter Schaufuss and Elisabetta Terabust to the first movement of Verdi's music, and a new second movement for four dancers. MacMillan subsequently revised the choreography of the first movement and added a third movement. This version premiered on 7 April 1982 at The Bristol Hippodrome.
