Notes: Performed at the opening of the 'Tribute to David Webster' Gala at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden on 30 June 1970. The programme includes the following note from the composer: 'This fanfare has been written specially for today's occasion. It is based on a series of rising fifths, which celebrate the Royal Opera House (C**E** G*****) and its retiring General Administrator (DA*** *EB**E*). Over these are scraps of nine of Sir David's favourite operatic tunes, with one thrown in for historical reasons. No prizes are offered for their identification.'
