MacMillan created this pas de deux for the Granada Television programme 'A Lot of Happiness', which was filmed in May 1981 and broadcast in December 1981 (director Jack Gold). The first stage performance was given at a Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet gala in May 1982 by the dancers and pianist who had appeared in the television programme.
